The race went well. My knee was banging for the first 1.5 miles but it seemed to warm up and didn’t bother me the remainder of the run. There was actually one stand that instead of water had Yuengling beer! That really hit the spot! After that the run was all mental – and trying not to let the speed walkers pass me… those damn speed walkers! I’m also happy to report I finally achieved the elusive runner’s high – around mile 7. That’s a lot of work I think I’ll stick to my sour cream and cheddar chips with a side of Pepsi for my drug of choice. Next thing I know it was mile 9… mile 12…then I saw the finish line in the distance. I was going along and then I saw my husband with the kids in tow in the little wagon and I was able to summon some more energy and finish.

Final time 2 hours 55 minutes .. I placed 5623 out of 6546. Next goal is the Air Force half-marathon in September with my main objective being not to feel like death for 3 days after I run the race!

On a side note – thank you to Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Pink for helping me run this race by singing to me in my headphones 😉
